Tourist Places in Secunderabad

Secunderabad has some interesting places to see, even if you are there for just a day! The best time to visit Secunderabad is during the months of October to February. However, with a song on your lips and a happy heart, any time is just perfect, if you do not mind the heat during summers. There is always a solution. Well, get into an Air Conditioned cab and go around the city with elan!

Shall we start with a spiritual place, a really famous church of Secunderabad? All Saints' Church, Trimulgherrywhich was established 150 years ago! It is well maintained and displays a unique architecture.

Trimulgherry Fort is another interesting attraction situated in the cantonment area in Trimulgherry. This fort was built in 1867. It is now functioning as a military hospital. Ananda Buddha Vihara is located at Mahendra hills and is a Buddhist destination comprising of a museum, meditation hall and rest house for monks.

Bollarum Golf Course, a popular tourist attraction is the largest and the oldest golf ground in Hyderabad and Secunderabad. It is actually not open for general public but if you take prior permission or in case you are a serving or a retired Defence officer or even a member of Secunderabad Club or RSI Club, you can get a view of the inside of this Golf Course.

Clock Tower in Secunderabad

Never mind, we now have the Clock Tower in mind. You already know that clock towers can be part of a church building or a Municipal building. So, what's new? Well, this one in Secunderabad is a really old one (in fact, the oldest monument in this place) and was constructed in 1860 by the British.

If you can smell something tasty cooking, it is only coming from the very famous Garden restaurant near Clock Tower. Have your lunch before we embark on our trip to other places!

One of the historic places of Secunderabad, The Gymkhana Ground is where most of the fairs, cricket matches and musical concerts are held in Secunderabad. Oh! Yes! political rallies included! If you are lucky, you can sit and watch one of the interesting inter school or inter-college tournaments also! We shall head for Hasmathpet, a small town in Secunderabad. Just take a little time to see Sri Venkateshwara Swamy Temple, Gurudwara, Sri Hanuman Temple and Sri Shirdi Sai Baba Temple here.

Holy Trinity Church in Bolarum locality of Secunderabad is yet another famous church of Secunderabad. The architecture represents the Victorian Gothic style of architecture with stained glass windows. Even Queen Elizabeth II visited this church in 1983 to celebrate her 36th wedding anniversary.

Another destination known for fashion textiles is Park Lane. Chenoy Trade Centre (CTC), which is the largest computer bazaar in the twin cities is located here. Repair, hiring of computers and buying laptops at discounted prices is the main attraction of this market.

Medak Cathedral which boasts of a sound proof roof, floor constructed from tiles brought from Italy and a bell tower should be a must in your trip in Secunderabad. Three magnificent stained-glass windows depict Nativity, Crucifixion and Ascension of Jesus Christ which add to the beauty of the place and attract tourists.

Rastrapathi Road (King's Way) is a major shopping centre in Secunderabad. And now for a real thrilling place to go! Adventure sports center Runway 9 in Kompally. Facilities here include pool and snooker, archery, shooting, roller skating, children's play area, fast food restaurants and more...

On your trip to Secunderabad, you just cannot afford not to visit Rashtrapati Nilayam (President's House) located in Bolarum. It is utilized as a guest house for dignitaries. It is one of the three official retreats in India, two other ones being Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi and the Retreat Building in Shimla.

Sangeet cinema, multiplexes, pizza corners, Minerva Shopping complex etc. are favourite places flanked by denizens of Secunderabad.

Shamirpet Deer Park

Add to this adventure by visiting Shamirpet Deer Park, located in Bolaram and enjoy witnessing a plethora of flora and fauna along with the serenity of Shamirpet lake and the green natural cover all around. However, this will take about half an hour to reach as it is 24 kms. from Secunderabad. A nice bird watching spot too, you will not relent your decision to have steered your car this side of the town!

The Alleygator is an entertainment zone situated at Clock Tower.Enjoy with your family and friends here and try your expertise at the bowling alleys, six pool tables and video games. Try your favourite cuisine in the cafetaria or even watch a movie in the 34-seater theatre!

St. Mary's Church is the oldest Roman Catholic church in the city of Secunderabad. St. John's Church too served the spiritual needs of British forces years back. Visit these churches to see the architecture that will enthrall you.
